Review: Lovers’ Bondage Kit by Pipedreams

    1
By Lola on August 3, 2011 Product Reviews, Reviews, Written

My partner and I like to have a little bit of BDSM in our sex play. However, we like it to look hardcore, but not feel hardcore. The Fetish Fantasy Series from Pipedream has a large variety of items that work well with our likes. With a one year anniversary coming up and a weekend where my partner moved in a few days prior to that, the Lover’s Bondage Kit had everything for the occasion. It has a bit of kink and romance in one.

The kit is best for beginners to bondage. It is also for those who are on a budget and want to try a few different things without spending a fortune. This kit includes a lot and will save you some money.

-Matching adjustable wrist and ankle cuffs

-Inflatable heart shaped sex position pillow

    -Two sided heart spanking paddle

    -Two colored silk rose petals

    -Liquid Love warming massage lotion

    -Eye mask

The wrist and ankle cuffs have a luxurious feeling on the inside made of super soft velvet. They have an adjustable velcro closure that I suspect would accommodate anyone, male or female. The black and red colors nicely accent each other. Connecting the cuffs are heart shaped metal pieces. One is a spring closure latch. This is a great feature for those who are a bit weary about trying cuffs for the first time. The Velcro can be undone, or you can simply unhook the cuffs from each other for a safety exit.

The Blow up heart was much larger than I had expected! It is covered in soft red velvet. When completely blown up it is about 2 feet x 2 feet. It was easy to blow up and seemed very strong. Like any blow up item, it won’t hold huge amounts of weight. I weigh 150 pounds and it didn’t seem to put much stress on the heart at all. It would hold more weight than this, but I’m not sure how much.

The matching spanking paddle was really cute too. It has the shape of a heart. One side has a soft velvet center and the other is faux leather. It is about 8 inches wide which is a good size for a spanking. The handle has an attached wrist strap.

The petals are made of silk and come in two different colors: red and white. There were a lot more red petals in mine. They are rigid and easy to spread around a bed, couch, floor etc. There are a lot! Some are stuck together so be sure to check that if you want the maximum amount.

The eye mask is made of a very thin material that bends when worn. The stretchy head band accommodates many sizes. We decided to use our own eye mask since this one sometimes allowed us to see. Unfortunately, it does not block out light either, so it cannot be doubled as a sleep mask.

The last item is the Liquid Love warming massage lotion. It is scented and flavored strawberry. The bottle is 1 fluid ounces, which is small, but it goes a long way. We also did not use this during our play because it smells a bit like cough syrup although it tastes much better. It is thin and runny which can cause a mess but it does warm up nicely!

The wrist and ankle cuffs are the most comfortable ones I have ever used! There was nothing poking me at all and since they are adjustable, nothing was too tight either. The Velcro is strong and does not come undone easily when pulled. I bet the metal rings would bend open before this would happen. Be sure to not tug too hard, these are not built for hardcore play. I liked the fact that I could also link them to the ankles in a kind of hog-tie way.

The blow up heart was a bit awkward as a sex position pillow. It only seemed to work as one if I laid on it with my stomach. It was comfortable to sit on and worked great as a couch pillow too! I used it to set the scene by propping it on the couch with the petals around. It looked very cute. The material does stretch some after weight is applied so you will need to add more air after a while.

The paddle is not very hard so it won’t inflict too much pain. It is great for beginners or those who don’t like too much pain, but still like to be paddled. The soft velvet can be smoothed over the body for teasing. The handle and strap make for easy holding.

The petals made my romantic bondage scene look the part. They are not comfortable to lay on though so I suggest not putting them you intend to play and just have them for look. I made a little path with mine and wrote a few sexual acts on some of them. I wish that the package they came in was re-sealable though. The petals don’t like to stay in the small bag!

The box the kit comes in is fine for storage as long as you don’t care about being discrete. It has pictures of a woman using the products in seductive and sexual posses. If anything gets lube or juices on it, I suggest spot cleaning. None of these items should go through a washer or dryer.

Overall, I was very pleased with most of the items in the Lover’s Bondage Kit. The smaller items didn’t wow me, but they didn’t take away from the usefulness and fun of the main parts. I would buy this just for the comfy cuff sets and position pillow.
