Review: Lux Male Stimulator LX-4 Cock Ring

    7
By Dylan Thomas on November 24, 2012 Dylan's Blog, Reviews, Toy Reviews, Written

I'm kind of a cock ring connoisseur, not in the sense that I use them all the time, but in the sense that I think I understand my way around good cock rings.

There are a few different types of cock rings but (at least in my head) I divide them into three separate categories; for his pleasure, for her pleasure, and for erection stamina. Most cock rings that try to do all three fail to do any adequately, but most that are for one function serve pretty well for that function. But I sit here, with a cigar box style package open, a Lux Male Stimulator LX-4 Cock Ring in my hand, and I think…  This cock ring does all three things pretty well, it's the closest to a perfect cock ring I've found. A HUGE thanks goes out to Early To Bed in Chicago for sending it my way!

So, obvious qualifications about differently shaped genitalia aside, I'm about 6″ and fairly thick. My first worry is always how a cock ring fits, so after taking a few moments to achieve a full erection I slip the LX-4 on. It's made of silicone, both smooth and rubbery to the touch, thick enough not to feel like it's about to break but thin enough to not get in the way. I stretch it out, slip it on, and let it snap right onto the base of my cock. It's comfortable, tight enough (and rubbery enough) to maintain a good grip on my cock, but not so tight it strangles or numbs my cock. (*note, men with slimmer cocks may find themselves swimming in this one) . It's also smooth enough to take adjustment (further down the shaft, twisting, etc…) and not grip too hard. I'm actually pretty amazed at how good it both maintains a grip, but doesn't grab.

The vibration in the LX-4 is also surprisingly good. It doesn't have a huge amount of options, you hold it to ramp up the vibration from slow to fast, let go when you've hit a sweet spot, then click once to turn it off. The button is stiff and recessed enough to not get hit accidentally, but the silicone around it is shaped well enough to find it no matter how slick it may be. The soft setting is pleasingly subtle but the highest setting… this is some intense vibration. It's also quiet vibration. It's also vibration that doesn't all get transferred to my cock, it's diffused nicely so that I get a good amount but not the full force which works out great, I have a tendency to lose sensation if vibration is too intense in one spot. It's comfortable and strong enough to improve my own sensation but not block it out completely.

When using it with someone else, this all still holds true, I can still feel my partner without a problem and it's comfortable on me, I don't feel like I'm losing any length (and nor does she). She on the other hand… well, this cock ring doesn't extend high enough to hit the clit, but it's wide enough that, when jammed in appropriately *grin* it actually delivers a LOT of vibration that sent Tonia in particular over the edge surprisingly fast. It's the most intense in the middle but it again… diffuses the vibration right out to the edges nicely, spreading that vibration throughout the entire width of almost any vagina.

Cleanup is easy, it's completely waterproof and submersible, retained no scent, and has all the advantages of good quality silicone toys not being porous and bring phthalate free. It also happens to be recharegable so you'll never have to take it apart.

All in all, I'm impressed. The LX-4 is going to see heavy rotation, and heavy vibration.
