    Review: Bob by LELO

    4
By Cooper S. Beckett on August 1, 2012 Reviews, Toy Reviews, Written

I'm no stranger to anal play and prostate stimulation, as those who've read my reviews of the Nexus Gyro and G-Rider well know. When I first opened the box containing LELO‘s Bob I was a bit…underwhelmed. Why for? Well, it's fairly small, about the size of a fat middle finger. Something about it just told me: I've graduated past this.

What I immediately liked about the Bob, however, was that it is crafted from very smooth silicone (which I've discovered is my material of choice for my anal play toys), it's pliable, and it has a ring on the end to allow for manipulation once inserted (and extremely easy removal.) First impressions be damned, the ease of insertion of the Bob is spectacular. I like that I didn't have to warm up much in order to begin play time. Partly, I'm sure, because I have experience, but at the same time, the roundness and smoothness of the tip allows it to slide right in.  And the fact that the wide end is up front and it tapers as it moves back to the ring keeps it in.

While inserted, its curved shape brings it in light contact with the prostate, though it's not curved enough to build any sort of strong pressure. I reached down to adjust with the manipulation ring and found an issue that perhaps is only me. The ring's openings face left and right instead of up and down. Therefore, when reaching from the front, you have to bring the hand to the side. This would certainly allow for good play with a partner, but on solo duty it's a bit cumbersome.

So, LELO‘s Bob, how is he? A solid good. Probably would be great for those who don't have a lot of experience and are looking for a “my first anal toy” that doesn't involve graduated beads. The solid silicone construction is a plus as I'm someone who like to COMPLETELY disinfect my toys, and Bob can be boiled. (And is dishwasher safe!) As I said, I also like that it's simple and small in that it doesn't require a lot of prep work to use.

I've heard that some people seem to think that ring isn't substantial enough to be considered a base. I know that you say that you felt it did, but was it a matter of only be just large enough to not cause concern, or was it sufficiently large that you didn't think about it?

It's true, the ring was on the smaller side, but as thin as the Bob gets before the ring base, you'll likely close down around it before the base arrives. I was never worried that it would vanish, and I kept it in for a while while doing other things.
