Putting Ourselves Out There On Craigslist – Beyond Swinger Dating Sites

online-dating-craigslist-sexLiving in a small town, lifestyle opportunities are few. While we try to make trips to big cities for fun, vanilla responsibilities make it hard to get away for extended periods. Finding some action locally can be difficult. We decided to move beyond our regional swinger site and brave the unknown of Craigslist. We posted a simple ad in the couples looking for couples section. Saying that we were a married, HWP, good-looking couple seeking the same for drinks, fun and maybe more. We were extra cautious about masking our identity in our photos since Craigslist is so much more public than a lifestyle site.

We knew that with Craigslist we would primarily be attractive to newbies—people who had little experience with the lifestyle. If they were experienced, we would have found them on the lifestyle website most likely. That’s not to say that playing with newbies is a bad thing. It just tends to be more complicated because the couple is still figuring out things for themselves—what they want to do and what their partner is comfortable seeing them do. Sometimes things are smooth sailing; other times a bumpy ride as newbies grow in their own understandings throughout the evening .

We received quite a few responses. Most of them we rejected immediately. Lots of single guys. Others we didn’t find attractive. Others seemed sketchy. We mailed three couples back from the 20 responses that we received.

Of the three that we emailed, we settled on one couple that we wanted to meet in person. And they were gems indeed. Although due to scheduling conflicts it took a while to arrange our date with a couple new to the lifestyle, we finally had a chance to meet them for drinks at a bar. By this time, they had two experiences prior to us—a good thing in my book. They were still interested in more fun. The evening ended with a very hot time at their place. We have plans to see this couple again next month. That one encounter was worth weeding through the slush. And now they are on the lifestyle website, so it is easier to find them.

I imagine we will try the Craigslist option again as our sexual appetites get hungry and we are unable to head out to the meccas of Swingerdom beyond our area. A tough thing about Craigslist is that your post gets buried. We would actively need to keep reposting to have it be an ongoing source of searching. It also means continually weeding through responses to find another rare gem of a couple. Due to the effort it takes, it’s a strategy that we find worth pursuing only when other options are unavailable. We love our little town in many ways. But we sure wish we had easier access to lifestyle couples!

Mrs. Doubleplay is 40-something mom living in the middle of America with kids, a career, and pretty house in the suburbs. She’s active in her local church, coaches the kids’ soccer games, and happens to have a secret life as a swinger. Married to her high school sweetheart, Mr. Doubleplay, the couple dipped their toes in the lifestyle for a couple of years but then dropped off the radar to have kids. They rejoined the lifestyle in 2005 and haven’t looked back. They have been soft swap from the start but are working their way toward greater forms of adventure as we meet hot couples on lifestyle vacations, swinger clubs, and online websites.
