Review: Serenity Glass Wand by Doc Johnson

0292_32_BU_6I am a relative sex toy newbie. Up until I tried Doc Johnson’s Serenity Glass Wand, all attempts at trying a non-vibrating dildo had gone horribly wrong. Too large, veiny cock looking designs were always too cheesy looking to set my mood and too rigid and straight to actually hit my g-spot. Some toys I’ve tried even felt clinical and uncomfortable.

I actually loved the Serenity.

I like the Serenity’s sleek look and feel. It comes in both pink and black. It has two smooth, round bulbed ends, one smaller and one larger, with a smooth shaft along the rest of the length. It is 7.3 inches long and has a reasonable insertable length of 5.40 inches. Its look is understated, not intimidating. Because it is glass, it has some weight to it (heavier toward the larger bulbed end) but it is easy enough to handle for longer use.

If the toy is at room temperature, it will feel cold to the touch, which can bring an element of surprise and fun if using for sensation play with a partner. A great feature of the Serenity being a glass toy is that it can be heated or cooled with warm or cold water or a hot or cool cloth. Obvious precautions need to be made to make sure that the temperature is not too hot to the touch. The toy will heat quickly upon insertion though, so if playing with cold, it will probably need to be continually chilled.

For being so simple, this toy is somewhat versatile. The larger bulb makes a pretty handy handle when inserting the smaller end, but can also be inserted as well for a fuller feel.  Having limiting experience with dildos, I will admit that the larger side did not work as well for me as the smaller one. Each side has feels drastically different. I didn’t feel uncomfortable with the larger bulb, as I have with other toys, but was not able to orgasm the same way that I was with the smaller bulb. The smaller end of the Serenity was able to hit my g-spot well and I was able to intensely orgasm a few times via self-use with very limited experience using a dildo.

An unexpected feature is that the curvature of the shaft allowed for some simultaneous g-spot and clitoral stimulation during self-use. On that note, this toy can also be used along with a small vibrator for enhanced clitoral stimulation.

Another bonus of this product is the cost. The Serenity is a lot more reasonably priced than other glass dildos, which makes it a very attractive option if you’re not looking to spend a ton on toys.

Because it’s glass, it is non-porous and easily cleanable. It can be cleaned with a sex toy cleaner or a mild antibacterial soap and water. It can even be put in the dishwasher.

I admit, this toy opened up my sex toy world and since using it I have purchased another functionally similar, but more expensive dildo. In comparison, now, the only complaint I have with the Serenity is with the shape of the bulbs. At this point, I’m not sure if it is an aesthetic choice or a functional one, but I think I prefer more of a phallic shaped bulb, rather than the rounded one.

Overall, Doc Johnson’s Reflections Serenity Glass Wand is a solid go-to glass wand with a reasonable price and lots of functionality. I highly recommend it.
