Review: Spread the Love Bar by Uberkinky’s Sex and Mischief

I will be honest; I have never been much into BDSM play. I am not sure if it is because I just don’t have the temperament to be submissive or if I have just not had the right experiences. So I don’t know that much about restraints. Granted I have been put in handcuffs (which tend to cut into one’s wrists) and been tied up with rope or bondage tape before, though mostly to be whipped or flogged. As a consequence, I have come to associate restraints with pain. So when told that we had the Spread the Love Bar to review, let’s just say I was underwhelmed.

My mind changed very quickly once I actually had the Spread the Love Bar by Sex & Mischief in my hands – or perhaps more accurately around the ankles and wrists of our sub.

The very first thing I noticed about this spreader was its size. It does not take up much space in the going out sex toy bag, as it is fairly short and flat. Most of the time, I go straight from home to work to date, so need to have everything fit in a bag that is both child safe as well as profession safe (as my vanilla job would definitely not approve of such toys). The Spread the Love Bar fits that requirement quite nicely.

The Spread the Love Bar is amazing in its simplicity. It consists of a nylon covered bar about 15” long with four black nylon cuffs equidistant apart. Each cuff can be used to secure a wrist or ankle, as the cuff has a Velcro closure. While the cuffs are not padded, they are flexible and adjustable so as to fit any size without cutting into the skin or restricting blood flow.

Having been the sub that once freaked needing to be released NOW, I feel that being able to get in and out of restraints easily is a must for any kind of bondage play. The Velcro fasteners on the cuffs definitely allow for easy on and off, but they hold the cuffs secure enough that it would have taken our sub a great deal of time and energy to have broken free. Though honestly, she was not interested in doing so.

We tried several positions with our sub using the Spread the Love Bar. Her ankles in the outside cuffs with her wrists on the inside ones was my personal favorite. Once on her back in this position, she was completely exposed for easy access.

We all enjoyed using this spreader. Our sub, because it gave her the freedom to be kept in a relaxed position. She did not have to struggle to retain a pose or wonder what she should be doing with her hands or feet. She was secure and more importantly (to me anyway) comfortable. Personally, I find it difficult (if not impossible) to reach subspace if I am not comfortable.

We enjoyed the Spread the Love Bar because it kept her exposed, ready for whatever it was that we felt like doing (none of which was causing her pain).

I told my partner at the end of the night that I would like to take the spreader to try on another playmate.

In fact, just yesterday a friend threatened to restrain me and tickle my clit until I couldn’t take it anymore. My first thought was “I have just the restraint for that.” The Spread the Love Bar will get definitely plenty of use.
