A Year On The Swingset – Our Very Sexy Birthday

“What day is today? It's Swingset's birthday! What a day for a birthday! So let's all have some…” mmmmmmmmm

It started with a crackpot (and egotistical) idea that I ought to write “Swinging For Dummies.”

After all, I'd been in the lifestyle for a grand total of eleven months at that point, and clearly had learned everything there is to know about a strange, unique, and complex alternative to monogamy. I knew one thing for sure, though, there wasn't enough of a presence for swingers online beyond the swinger dating sites, and most of those sites are, frankly, little more than excuses to use cocks and tits as profile pictures. If people could do that on Facebook, well they'd be set.

I knew that when we began swinging it was so tremendously foreign to us. We consumed every bit of material available. But even with as much information as we could get our hands on, the only website that offered anything like the comfort level of “it's okay” that we so desperately wanted, was the Sex Is Fun podcast.

Their funny and relaxed discussions of all things sexual, freely and without judgement, made me realize that there were people in the world who wanted to explore this frontier. People unafraid to feel good about what their amazing bodies could do, and even better about what they could do when multiplied by more than two.

“Swinging For Dummies” became a podcast. And a site was birthed from it.

Looking back at year one, and twenty-six episodes, and over twenty full hours of content, we have done what I wanted us to do. Provide a safe haven in a sea of repressed attitudes. Show others that it's okay. Comfort those who are nervous, applaud those who are bold, thank those who provide support, and strike forward into a future where open sexuality may become more and more acceptable.

I feel overwhelmingly positive about our sexual futures as a nation and a world, united in pleasure. And I vow to keep up our end of the deal. We won't shy from the controversial topics, we won't gloss over risks or issues, we won't discount the validity of others opinions and ideas, and we'll be a friend to all who want to explore the boundless expanse of free expression of sexuality in a safe and responsible manner. (I STILL won't endorse road head, FYI.)

I know this is shmaltzy, but I am humbled by the response this site has gotten and continues to get on a regular basis. People thanking us for being willing to tackle this head on, for speaking out about the bias regarding bisexual males, for just being real people in a real situation, for not sugarcoating, and for, most of all, being friendly, and extending that hand.

Year Two of the Swingset will be bigger and better. Starting with our amazing interviews with Christopher Ryan and Tristan Taormino. Let us know if you think we should cover anything specific. And please feel free to call and tell us how we're doing, or ask a question. 573-55-SWING

There's always a swing available.

  1. Coop, a better reference would have been to munching on her "cake", but you have until the end of next January to come up with some sexy innuendos.
Love the podcast and the website!
